About Wrigley Coffee
Wrigley Coffee is a specialty coffee shop and social enterprise dedicated to serving the Wrigley neighborhood and the greater Long Beach community. Our mission is to support youth workforce development by providing opportunities to build professional skills, gain hands-on work experience, and develop pathways toward future employment. Compensation
Starting pay: $17.00 per hour, with the potential for a raise following an internal performance review.
Supplemental pay: Tips, in addition to the hourly wage. All tips belong to our baristas.
Job Details
Employment type: Part-time
Position: Barista
Expected hours: 20–25 hours per week.
Availability: Weekdays and weekends, depending on scheduling needs.
Scheduling flexibility: Candidates must have a flexible schedule and be available to work both opening and closing shifts as needed. We are specifically seeking someone who can open the café starting at 6:30 AM at least twice per week and work closing shifts ending at 4:30 PM at least twice per week.
Food Handler Card: If you don’t already have a valid California Food Handler Card, you’ll complete the training and exam within 30 days of hire. Wrigley Coffee pays for the course and exam and pays you for the time it takes. No card is needed to apply.
Job Responsibilities
Prepare and serve coffee, espresso beverages, and other menu items according to Wrigley Coffee’s quality standards.
Operate the cash register and point-of-sale system accurately.
Maintain the cleanliness of the café, restrooms, equipment, and work areas.
Restock shelves, supplies, and inventory as needed.
Provide friendly, professional customer service and address customer questions or concerns.
Work collaboratively with team members to support daily café operations.
Act with integrity, honesty, and professionalism while upholding Wrigley Coffee’s culture, values, and mission.
Contribute to a welcoming, respectful, and inclusive environment for customers, coworkers, and community members.
Qualifications and Skills
High school diploma, GED, or equivalent preferred.
Previous coffee shop, hospitality, or customer service experience preferred.
Strong communication skills, reliability, and a willingness to learn.
Passion for specialty coffee and community engagement.
Flexible availability, including the ability to work opening shifts starting at 6:30 AM at least twice per week and closing shifts ending at 4:30 PM at least twice per week.
Ability to work collaboratively and adapt to the needs of a small, community-focused business.
Physical requirements: Ability to stand for at least five hours per shift and lift or carry items weighing up to 30 pounds as needed to perform essential job duties, with or without reasonable accommodation.
